Over the past couple of decades, henna has become more prevalent in the western world and many people are choosing to have henna applied to them for a variety of different reasons.  They may want to mark a special occasion, add beauty to their day, or express their own individuality.  The reasons are as unique and varied as there are people.

Traditionally, women had henna applied to their hands and feet during pregnancy and after birth because this stage of life was considered an important rite of passage, and one in which it was important to protect the mother and baby from evil spirits.  However, a ‘Belly Blessing’, in which henna is applied to the pregnant belly to mark the transition to motherhood and to welcome new life into the world, is strictly a North American invention which is becoming increasingly popular these days. Belly Blessings are a fun and beautiful way to celebrate pregnancy and birth.

Henna Planet uses only 100% pure Henna powder imported from a reputable supplier in Pakistan.  Henna leaves come from the Lawsonia Inermis plant which is grown in hot, dry climates.  The leaves are ground up into a very fine powder and then mixed with lemon juice until it forms a thick paste.  This concoction is left for a day or two, depending on the temperature, until it releases dye. Sugar and essential oils are also added to the mix at this point.  This mixture is 100% natural and is perfectly safe.
